Meet Charlie

Biography

I am an Iconic Beauty because I am not perfect or your typical model. I would rather wear ripped jeans, a t-shirt or walk around barefoot. I have tattoos, I’m clumsy, I have a gapped tooth, but I can promise you one thing; no one will ever make me feel less because of these things. All my imperfections make me Charlie and an Iconic Beauty because I am real and relatable. That is truly iconic.

Real Life Me

The Real Me

What was your first “I made it” moment? During my last semester of college, the head director of the Broadcast Department walked into the radio station sound room where I was recording on campus and told me “You are made for this industry, I have never had a student deliver like you do on live radio and I never give compliments. You will go far. This is what you are made to do” This was after I read a voiceover for the local campus radio station. I knew then and there that I was in my calling, and a career in broadcasting was not just an intangible dream.
What is your favorite thing about yourself? I love that I can LAUGH at myself through out the day! I am super clumsy and I usually trip over my feet about 17 times a day and most of the time no one sees it. So after I trip, I am usually coming around a corner with a huge smile after laughing at myself. People probably think I am crazy, but I love it.
What are some things you need to practice more? Gathering my thoughts and delivering them in a clear and concise way.
What are some things you would rather avoid? I tend to be shy and introverted in groups of people that I first meet, so I would rather avoid meeting new people in larger group settings. (I prefer one on one or smaller groups) I also loathe confrontation with people.
What is your proudest accomplishment? One semester of college, I was picked to be the head host of our local TV show, Kingsborough Focus, that aired in Brooklyn, NY. I wrote my script, produced and interviewed all the talent for 6 episodes!
What is your favorite part of every day? I love when the sun starts to rise because I get this overwhelming feeling of “anything is possible”. I love mornings!
What is something new you’d like to learn? I want to learn so many more languages!
What makes you, you? My faith in Christ is my foundation for EVERYTHING.
What makes you cry? I am a humanist. My heart breaks when I see people hurting in all forms. It breaks my heart to see homeless people, people battling depression, sickness, bullying, insecurities or when people feel helpless and judged. My heart breaks for people constantly.
How would your friends describe you? My friends say I am bold. I do things most people will not do- like packing up two suitcases after a major breakup and moving all the way to Miami to start over fresh. And I’m constantly trying new things that my girlfriends would never do, like snowboarding and now I am learning to surf!
